ARCHITECTURE - Hudson River House
Office: Resolution: 4 Architecture
Site-built, Single-Family Residential -- Croton-on-Hudson, NY -- 2018
The Hudson River House sits among the trees on one of Croton-on-Hudson’s highest points, overlooking the town and river below. After spending decades living in Manhattan, the clients wanted to escape the confines of the dense city. This home is lifted high in the air to get up and above the surrounding trees to capture the expansive river views. A tight and efficient plan drives the design - the home is a perfect getaway for the couple, offering just enough space and storage for two. A long and linear lap pool sits below the house, surrounded on all sides by a cantilevered ipe deck. The materials are built to last - metal paneling, untreated ipe, and pvc - guaranteeing that minimal maintenance is required. The simple form, extensive glazing, and muted palette allow for the striking landscape both near and far to take priority.
