ARCHITECTURE - The Periscope
Form-Z "Award of Distinction"
“The Periscope” is a project that aims to use both physical material and digital media to study light, shade, shadow, color, transparency, and translucency. The digital images are created through a process of model building, photography, diagraming, digital bas relief modeling, and finally digital spatial modeling. Scenes are constructed through careful examination of spaces bound by both solid masses and their consequent shadows and reflections. The resulting views are apparently architectural, defined by structure that is simultaneously real and perceived. “The Periscope” allows views to be established from seemingly hidden moments, placing focus on the interaction of detailed elements and the site that grounds them. “The Periscope” is an instrument for the discovering of architectural capacities.
